Flying ducks and leaping calves: palace floors in New Kingdom Egypt
ved professor Gay Robins, Emory University, Atlanta.

The talk examines palace floor decoration, mainly from El-Amarna and Malqata. Starting from David O’Connor’s hypothesis that the floors were a representation of the world at dawn, the paper will explain the layers of meaning embodied in the floors’ overall design and in the individual elements that make up the composition.
